Sketchy Thursdays - 9.22 - Our Irish Brother

The whole time I was away I was itching to get my hands on some paper and glue and pictures. I knew I had a stack of pics waiting at home for me. So this sketch from Sketchy Thursdays helped me satisfy that itch once I got home.

This summer my Nana had an Irish border named Ciaran. He quickly became best-friends with my brother Tim and truly part of our family. We had lots of fun together. These pictures are from his good-bye party. My Dad brought over his red surge for Ciaran to try on. We will miss our Irish brother.

Sketchy Thursdays 7.21 - Dance.

Hi everyone,
After working all weekend, yesterday I decided to play with some photos I have recently gotten processed. I used this sketch from Sketchy Thursdays for some pictures from my cousin Roo's wedding.

It was perfect for some pictures of their first dance, as well as Unc dancing with his daughter, my youngest cousin A.
As I mentioned before this wedding was a blast. I'm really looking forward to Roo's sister's wedding on Labour day weekend.
Well that's all for now. Thanks for stopping by. :)

Sketchy Thursdays 6.23 - You amaze me

Hi everyone!
I finally completed my Punta Cana album this week and have started on some other photos that have been waiting. I used this sketch from Sketchy Thursdays for a couple of photos of my brother Dan and his daughter Alexis.

It's called "You amaze me." Dan is my younger brother and it's kinda strange that he's a Dad. And he's a great one already. He wants to be involved. I can't even explain how proud I am of him. Lexi is so lucky that Dan is her Dad. I love these photos of them together. Our friend Becca shot these when Lexi was only a few weeks old. Visit her blog if you get the chance.   I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far.

Sketchy Thursdays 6.9 Yesterday

It's amazing what a new stack of paper and the Backstreet Boys will do for creativity. Also an awesome sketch from Sketchy Thursdays.

Another Punta Cana LO. We went to the Italian place one night and the entertainment was playing @ each table. When they got to ours they asked if we had any requests. Zeke asked for the Beatles. They played "Yesterday" and we all sang along. A memorable moment for sure.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far.

Sketchy Thusdays 6.2 - Speedo Wednesday

This week I played along with Sketchy Thursdays.

I used this sketch for another Punta Cana LO.
I had almost forgotten about Speedo Wednesday until I came across this picture. Maybe I was repressing it! Love you Zeke!! Anyway the story goes that @ Zeke and Crystal's wedding trip, Zeke treated everyone to his speedo and ever since then on trips he breaks it out. He did not disappoint. Even Jenny's Dad joined in on the fun.
I had finally gotten into a groove with my trip pictures again, when.....I ran out of adhesive. Guess I know what's on my list to get on the weekend.
Hope everyone enjoys theirs!

Sketchy Thursdays 5.12 Kiss

This week Sketchy Thursdays shared a double page LO.

I changed it up a bit and only used the right side of the sketch.

I really liked how it turned out. I'm still working on my Punta Cana album. It's been slow but over the last few days, between cutting the front lawn then the back, I've managed to get a few more LO's done. I really want to get it done before I start on anything else.

Sketchy Thursdays 4.28 - relaxation

Hi everyone, hope your weekend was a good one. This weekend I played with Sketchy Thursdays. Still working away on those Punta Cana pics.

I spent the morning before wedding getting a many. Something I only do on vacation since nail polish is frowned upon @ work and would never last anyway. I was so relaxed I almost feel asleep in the chair. A great way to start off a perfect day.

Sketcy Thursday 4.7

Hi all, yesterday I played with Sketchy Thursdays. I love their sketches. They also know how to show the love too and always comment on every one's blog who has played that week.
Here is the sketch

Here is my take.

These pictures are from my Punta Cana trip. I love them b/c Jenny had taken them with my camera, without me even knowing about it. I just found them on my camera a couple days later. It appears as if I might have to take a break from my Punta Cana album. What started as a very tight paid period as actually turned out not be, I've picked up 3 extra shifts. So that means I have to put aside my Punta Cana album and finish up a project I'm working on for the baby shower next weekend. I promise to share but Jess (HI JESS!) and her mom (HI KATHLEEN!) sometimes read my blog and I want to keep it a surprise. I also have to finish up favours and wrap prizes. The menu can't be done until the day before, so I really need to get the crafting and then the cleaning done defore then. So there you have it, I might be able to slip a trip LO in all the business. I hope so b/c now that I've started it, I'd just like to get it done so I can show people!
Anyway thanks for stopping by and I hope you guys have a great weekend. It looks like beautiful spring weather coming in the forecast. Maybe I'll get to wear a dress to church! :)

Got my groove back.

Finally, I've got my scrapbooking groove back. I'm not sure what my problem was but I was not getting inspired enough to start on my Punta Cana album. I've been busy planning a baby shower for my new niece and that might have been using up all my creativity and energy. I've never had a party @ my house before and I want it to be good. On the other hand it is a family shower, I really don't have to impress them. There is only so much you can do weeks ahead of time and I've pretty much done it, so after a nice visit with Dan, Jess and Alexis this weekend I sat down and started my trip album.
I used two sketches to get me going this week.
The first is by Sketchy Thursday,

I flipped the sketch, picked the purple of my bathing suit and the blue of the water as my colours. I used the resort arm band to ground things. I'm really happy with this LO. It also tells the story about how happy I am that I reconnected with Jenn and was able to go on this trip and meet Crystal and Matt. Both of whom I hope will be good friends someday.
The next sketch I used was from Pencil lines
Sketch229

Again I flipped it and used the blue from the water in the pool. I think this album will have a lot of blue in it!

I also want to share my favorite picture from the weekends visit with Lexi. Here is my brother Tim, hanging out at Grandma's, so proud to be an Uncle.

That's all for now. Hopefully I'll get a few more pages down today before I head to Alexis' house on Sunday for a week. Can't wait for cuddles!

Sketchy Thursdays - 1.13 - Fall 10

It's Thursday!! And you know what that means, another fab sketch from Sketchy Thursday.

Just finishing up my garden pics, only some fall and winter ones left. Here's my take.

In other news, my tickets for my trip to Punta Cana in Feb arrived. So stoked! I really need this vacation, can't wait. Then shortly after I get home I'll be getting a new niece. Yep Feb is going to be awesome.

Sketchy Thursdays - 1.6 - Grand Dad's Cookies.

Today I played with this sketch from Sketchy Thursdays.

Here is my take.
The sketch worked perfectly to tell the story of Grand Dad's Cookies. Since it is probably difficult to read here is the journaling in a nutshell. These are Granddad's cookies, they are called that b/c they were my Grandpa's fave. Recently my Grandma told me the story behind Grand Dad's Cookies and why they have no name. When they were courting during WWII my Grandma worked @ a bank. One of her co-workers had a brother overseas. She told Grandma about how she and her mom made these cookies for her brother and sent them to him. He always looked forward to getting them b/c they never arrived stale and they were always intact when they got to him, unlike cookies the other mothers sent their sons. My Grandma told Grandpa about them and he insisted she get the recipe and they have been his fave ever since. My Grandma never learned what they were called and that is why we call them Granddad's cookies.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!!

Sketchy Thursdays - Facebook only - Laughter

This week I played along with Sketchy Thursday and their Facebook only challenge. Check out their fan page on Facebook to see the sketch!
"Pretend I just said something really funny." Greg said just before this photo was taken. I love this photo, it's actually one of the only candid picture of me that is actually good.
I hope everyone is enjoying some down time after Christmas and is gearing up to the New Year.

Sketchy Thursdays - 12.16 - Untitled

Good afternoon everyone!! Here is another great sketch from Sketchy Thursdays.

At first I wasn't sure how I was going to make this sketch work but I thought about using coloured blocks instead of small photos and I think it worked out okay. Not too many pictures of my garden to scrap. Almost done! I can't wait to show my mom. She and her husband had planned to visit my garden all summer but it was really hot here and they didn't make it..so I'm looking forward to showing her a sneak peak @ what is to come next year. Here's my take. Sorry for the bad picture, my house is lacking in natural light. I really miss that about my apartment, it had a huge bay window and was filled with light all the time. This picture gives the idea though. :)
How is everyone's shopping going?? I'm almost done. Just my grandma left. All she wants is a vinal/flannel table cloth and do you think I can find one? Sure but not in patterns that are really my grandma...she's not a blue palm tree kind of girl. I even braved Walmart today and no luck. I'm thinking Giant Tiger tommorrow...then I can start wrapping. That's one of my favourite parts. :)
Hope everyone is having a great afternoon,
Cheers and thanks for stopping by!

Sketchy Thursdays 12.09 Echinacea

I also played along with Sketchy Thursdays this week. Surprisingly this cold I've got has not interfered with my creations.

That's all for now, GH is coming on and I think it might be time for more meds.

Sketchy Thursdays 12.02 - Hollyhock

This week I played with this sketch from Sketchy Thursdays. It worked perfectly to showcase the pics I've taken of the hollyhock in my garden.

Thanks for visiting!

Sketchy Thursday - Bright & Beautiful

This LO is based on this sketch from Sketchy Thursdays,
11.18 sketch challenge

Last fall I bought my first house and I missed the prettiness that is spring and summer. This summer I amazed by all the colour and beauty that was in my rather large back yard. Every day brought a new discovery. The next blog posts will likely show case my garden, as I finish up my garden scrapbook.

I'm not much of a gardener, and this summer was really too hot for me to get into it really but it's amazing what nature will do on its own. GOD truly is an artist.
